Clear Acrylic (Perspex) Sheets Cut to Size

Clear acrylic — commonly known by the brand name Perspex — is a transparent plastic sheet used for glazing, displays, partitions, shelving and signage. It delivers glass-like clarity at roughly half the weight, with far greater impact resistance. That makes it safer if knocked, easier to handle, and simple to cut, drill and shape. We cut every sheet to your exact dimensions, so you only pay for the size you need. Order online with your measurements or request a free quote.

Why Choose Clear Acrylic Over Glass?

For most everyday applications, clear acrylic is the more practical choice. It's lighter and stronger, at about half the weight of glass with many times the impact resistance, so it won't shatter into dangerous shards if dropped or struck. It's optically clear, with high light transmission and a smooth, glossy finish that rivals glass. It's weather and UV resistant, holding up outdoors without yellowing or degrading under normal conditions. And it's easy to work with, cutting, drilling, routing and polishing cleanly, which makes it ideal for trade jobs and DIY projects alike.

Because it's so forgiving to fabricate, acrylic suits both one-off home projects and ongoing commercial work, without the cost or fragility of glass.

Common Uses for Clear Perspex Sheets

Clear acrylic handles a wide range of jobs around the home, office and worksite. Popular applications include display cases and retail or exhibition displays; shelving and shop fitting; windows, glazing and secondary glazing; sneeze guards, dividers and partitions; signage, plaques and engraving; picture framing and model making; jewellery stands, brochure and card holders; table numbers and event décor; fencing, balustrades and architectural panels; light fittings and roof lighting; and medical and laboratory components.

Whatever the project, a clear sheet cut precisely to size saves you the offcuts, waste and trimming you'd face buying a standard panel.

Choose Your Thickness

We stock clear acrylic in a range of thicknesses to match your project — from thin sheets ideal for framing, signage and craft work, through to heavier gauges built for shelving, glazing and load-bearing panels. Thicker sheets offer greater rigidity and span further without flexing, so the right choice depends on how the panel will be supported and what it needs to hold. If you're unsure which thickness suits your load or span, see our guide to choosing the right clear acrylic thickness before you order, or get in touch and we'll point you in the right direction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Perspex acrylic?

Yes. Perspex is a brand name for acrylic, also known as PMMA or polymethyl methacrylate. It is the same clear plastic material commonly used for glazing, displays, signage, splashbacks and protective panels.

What thickness of clear acrylic sheet should I choose?

For lightweight covers, picture frames and small display panels, 2mm to 3mm is usually suitable. For general glazing, shelving, signs and protective panels, 4.5mm to 6mm is a stronger everyday choice. For larger spans, table tops or panels that need extra rigidity, consider 8mm to 10mm.

Can clear acrylic Perspex be used outdoors?

Yes. Clear acrylic is suitable for many outdoor applications because it has good weather resistance and excellent optical clarity. Allow for expansion and movement when fitting panels outside, especially on larger sheets or exposed glazing projects.

Is clear acrylic better than glass?

Clear acrylic is much lighter than glass and has better impact resistance, making it easier to handle and a safer option for many DIY, retail and display uses. Glass is still more scratch resistant and better for high heat areas, so the best choice depends on how the panel will be used.

Can you cut acrylic sheet to my exact size and add holes?

Yes. You can order clear acrylic cut to your required width and height, with optional extras such as rounded corners, edge finishing and drilled holes where available. For unusual shapes or more detailed fabrication, send a quote request with your measurements and requirements.

How should I clean clear acrylic without scratching it?

Use a soft microfibre cloth with mild soapy water, then gently dry the surface with a clean cloth. Avoid abrasive pads, dry wiping dusty panels, ammonia-based cleaners, solvents and harsh chemicals, as these can mark or damage acrylic.

Glue this material

For a strong, clean join, degrease the surfaces and use an adhesive suited to this material. Clamp lightly while curing and keep the protective film on until you are ready to bond. Need a recommendation for your project?
